I'm retired now, but when I was a (senior, salaried) cop -12 hour days standard, often 14 days between a day off, often 'on call' between shifts (e.g. finish at 3 am, due back at 9 am, on-call between), and covering very large (for the UK) geographical areas.
It burned me out.
These are much happier days!

Would you care to explain this discrepancy between your doctrine and the Holy Scripture?
by Pribeagul inciting from https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/what-is-the-holy-spirit/ :"the holy spirit is not a personby referring to godâs spirit as his âhands,â âfingers,â or âbreath,â the bible shows that the holy spirit is not a person.
(exodus 15:8, 10) a craftsmanâs hands cannot function independent of his mind and body; likewise, godâs holy spirit operates only as he directs it.
(luke 11:13) the bible also compares godâs spirit to water and associates it with such things as faith and knowledge.

"The first step is to actually study the history of the Bible to see if it's genuine, rather than say it is because that's what a person wants to believe."
I never was a JW.
I second his comment. Context is all-important. Before you start interpreting/dissembling/investigating the words, first look at who/when/why and the context in which it was written.
Re. the OT - this is well worth watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5RfScpEcZ8
Re. the NT - have a look at Bart Ehrman's site or any of his lectures on youtube. (He also has a very good y/t on the origin of the KJ Bible).

by Designer Stubble inwe will not weigh you down with burdensome lists, as you have the freedom to choose, but here is our list anyway.some snippets:.
the law showed jehovahâs strong feelings against clothing that does not make clear the distinction between male and femaleâwhat has been described in our day as unisex fashion.
(read deuteronomy 22:5.

" If they could legally put someone to death I'm sure they'd vomit up an article describing how it was done in the Old Testament and how it should be applied now."
I never was a JW.
I'm sure I recall a WT article quoted here on JWN which said something about not being able to stone apostates to death nowadays (with the implication that they'd like to ...)

Just a thought.
How much influence might the fact and aftermath of the American Civil War have had on the formation of 'end times' religions such as WT?

Excellent Conversation At Literature Trolley
by cofty inyesterday my wife and i enjoyed one of our regular days out at edinburgh - movie, lunch, walk, meal etc.. in the late afternoon while mrs cofty went shopping i had an hour at the excellent museum of scotland and arranged to meet up outside the national gallery on princes street.
on my way back i saw the jw trolley was at the usual spot on the royal mile.
there was an older man and a young woman standing well back trying hard to look inconspicuous.

Christians Know Who God Is
by Loi_241 inmany of us christians have a good question for you to ask, âwho is god?â there are more than six scriptures to share with you.
you know the bible itself a true message for all the people on earth.
the bible explains âin the beginning god created everything: heaven, earth, animals, people and everything.â thus, you notice god created humans, adam and eve.

He's obviously a busy man.
When does he get time for the working girls? Especially if he has to slot them in (so to speak) between drinking beer? Which as all men know causes brewer's droop?
Brewer's droop in itself is a good argument against Intelligent Design. Drink enough beer to overcome inhibitions and find a girl, then get the droop. What deity designed that? Not a benevolent one, that's for sure. But wait! What about Lot? Well, he obviously wasn't normal (quite apart from his grief over his salty wife -who would have guessed that would happen?) but he was able to incestuously copulate with his daughters over a couple of days while blotto.
Not quite sure what moral to take from that story. Be a good man and you don't get the droop? Be a good man and copulate with your daughters (the ones the townspeople didn't want)?
Maybe I need to go to a KH with these questions.
